Partner your NPO with SOFTIN
Dear NPO serving people with special needs,
SOFTIN may share your nonprofit mission. If our organizations serve the same special-needs people, we believe there is ample opportunity for a helpful partnership whereby SOFTIN provides our unique and beneficial services and experiences to the people you work hard to serve. We offer our services to your constituents, through you. Our services are designed for the handicapped, disabled, impaired, elderly and youth.
We accomplish our mission by taking our passengers to sea in near-shore waters for a varied enabling and educational curriculum including vessel identification (sail, power, research, enforcement, industry, fishing, dredging, etc.), talks about docks and piers and launch ramps, seabird sighting and identification, marine mammal sighting and identification, hands-on "marlinspike seamanship", types of work available on the waterfront, fishing skills for subsistence or recreation, water quality and marine debris prevention and cleanup. We will get these folks involved in beneficial marine research projects and give them buttons to wear that read “SOFTIN Research Team”.
The people we serve need to feel useful, involved and needed. The research we involve them in (such as counting species of concern at control sites), the skills we teach and the educational lessons we provide will give them a sense of achievement, usefulness and self-esteem.
This is an open needs niche and we have designed the program to fill it. No organization is offering such a comprehensive and beneficial combination of services to groups such as; sufferers of disabling diseases, terminally ill patients, amputees learning to use prosthetics, victims of abuse, mentally impaired, youth at risk and elderly requiring special help. SOFTIN staff includes seafaring professionals with backgrounds in working with these groups of needy people.
Tangible benefits for those we serve include knowledge of the waterfront, skills and familiarity with marine mammals, seabirds and fish. People discover what they can accomplish, rather than concentrate on what they cannot do. They feel involved. Intangible benefits come in the joyful gratitude of those we serve.
SOFTIN wants to partner with your organization to provide our services to the people you serve. We partner with synergetic organizations via a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which describes the particulars of how our partnership works. It serves as an informal Agreement for a stated period of time. The MOU also serves both of our organizations as we submit proposals for funding and need to show proof that we collaborate with other organizations in a network of entities serving people with special needs. Funding is always an issue and therefore we advocate actively look for opportunities to collaborate between our two organizations or among a consortium on proposals for program funding. Working together we can better serve people.
